Ms. Ellis comes to the North Carolina Innocence Inquiry Commission with a background in Criminal Law. She served for over six years as an Assistant District Attorney in both Wake and Durham counties. As an ADA in Durham, She was assigned to handle violent gang cases and homicides.
Prior to law school, Ms. Ellis served for approximately ten years as a law enforcement officer in various jurisdictions.
Ms. Ellis is a summa cum laude graduate of the Honors College at Western Carolina University and a graduate of North Carolina Central's School of Law. She also earned an Associates Degree from Asheville-Buncombe Technical College in Law Enforcement Technology and is a graduate of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), located in Glynco, GA.
