Jamie T. Lau

Jamie Lau is a Staff Attorney and Investigator for the Commission.

Jamie earned a B.A. in Economics, with distinction, from the University of California, Berkeley in May 2002. After earning his undergraduate degree, Jamie spent four years as a math teacher in New York City. While teaching in NYC, Jamie completed an M.S. in Secondary Mathematics Education at Lehman College.

In May 2009, Jamie graduated cum laude from Duke University School of Law. During law school, Jamie interned for the Consumer Protection Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office and for the Children's Law Clinic at Duke Law School. At the A.G.'s Office, Jamie assisted with litigation targeting predatory lending. While at the Children's Law Clinic, Jamie helped represent low-income students in special education and school discipline cases.

After law school, Jamie completed a two-month fellowship with the Community Enterprise Clinic at Duke Law School. During the fellowship, Jamie published an opinion piece calling for greater regulation of credit card lenders in the Raleigh News and Observer, Seattle Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, and Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Jamie is admitted to practice in North Carolina.
